The Journal
A method guide has room for the physics of an extraction and the mistakes specific to it. It doesn't have room for the accidental history of why a French press looks the way it does, or an honest opinion on whether the expensive grinder is actually worth it. That's what the writing below is for: a single point of view, with enough space to actually make it, rather than a reference answer trying to stay neutral.
Start with the guide that ties the rest together
The Complete Home Coffee Guide is the closest thing this site has to a front door if you're starting from zero. It walks through how ratio, extraction, grind and beans interact as one connected system, then points to the dedicated method, ratio, fix and bean pages for whichever specific number or fix you actually need next, rather than trying to be all of those pages folded into one. Read it first if you don't yet know which section of the site answers your question; come back to it any time the thread between sections gets lost.
What else lives here
Some of what's below corrects a popular myth outright — the golden ratio isn't the rule it's often treated as. Some is comparative in a way a method guide isn't built for, like the real difference between cold brew and iced coffee, two drinks made by structurally different processes that get lumped together anyway. Some is seasonal and practical, like batching cold brew for an entire summer, or a gift guide built around what a coffee drinker actually uses rather than a generic spec sheet. And at least one post is a straight, arguable opinion — whether upgrading your gear is worth the money — the kind of stance a reference page can't take without stopping being a reference page.
Writing stays dated, not quietly rewritten
Each post here carries the date it was actually published, and older posts stay as they were written rather than getting silently reshuffled to chase whatever's trending that week. If something in an older post is later superseded by a more current number on a ratio or fix page, that dedicated page is the one to trust for the figure itself — the writing here is for the thinking and the story around a topic, not the sourced, checkable number.
